Bucks Co. Woman Contracts West Nile Virus
Falls Township woman has 1st confirmed human case in the county

Bucks County, PA has reported its first case of West Nile virus.
The first person to contract West Nile in the county is a 54-year-old Falls Township woman who has since recovered from her symptoms, according to officials.
Aerial spraying of mosquito-fighting insecticide began Wednesday night for parts of west and northwest Harris County. The treatment is expected to last five to seven hours, according to Martha Marquez, a spokeswoman for the Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services.
Starting just after nightfall, planes began treating approximately 63,000 acres in response to recent surveillance showing increased West Nile virus in Harris County.
Aircraft will be spraying Dibrom, a chemical also known as Naled, that is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to combat mosquitoes.
As a precaution, individuals are advised to stay indoors during the application, according to the county health department.
